Is it the Premier League or Champions League for Chelsea this term?

Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham and Liverpool are all in the Champions League representing the Premier League and England. Out of these teams, Chelsea seems to be the only team who are actually showing an interest in winning the Champions League and that is down to  many facts.

On numerous occasions, Chelsea players like Hazard and even Antonio Conte have multiple times iterated the significance of winning the Champions League. Also, Chelsea won the Premier League last term, which means they do not have as much pressure as teams like Manchester United and City who desperately have the need to win the Premier League title, not only to save the club’s reputation but to assert the point, that both Guardiola and Mourinho are winners.

Tottenham and Liverpool might actually fight for both the titles in the hope that may be one tournament might be lucky for them but the possibility of them winning either of the Premier League and Champions League is quite negligible.

Chelsea are the only team capable for putting up a fight in the Champions League without the pressure of the Premier League. Even if this season is skipped, Chelsea can focus on winning the Premier League next term. This season, a top three finish will be much acceptable for Chelsea.

Conte who has not won the Champions League yet, will be aiming for the same. Also, Chelsea’s performance in the Champions League has been far better than the Premier League. Also, except Cahill, David Luiz, Morata and Pedro, there are no players in the Chelsea squad who have won the Champions League and they will all want to add that medal to their numerous other collections as well.

These are the reasons exactly why Chelsea will be more focused on winning the Champions League than the Premier League.
