Manchester United stunned. Liverpool pathetic. City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham pocket 3 points.
In this post we are going to look
at how the Big 6 Premier League teams have performed in the past weekend and
what can we expect from them the next time around.
While Manchester City, Chelsea,
Tottenham and Arsenal came up with three points in their weekend games with
their some powerful and ruthless football, Manchester United were defeated by
the newly promoted Huddersfield team and Liverpool showed how a team with no
quality defence can suffer in the Premier League especially when Harry Kane is
playing against you.
Chelsea nearly lost their match
to Watford at Stamford Bridge but nearly losing is the same as actually losing
because Chelsea just had too much in the locker room for Watford and fought
till the dying minutes before emerging 4-2 victorious.
Manchester City and Arsenal had a
relatively easy game as both teams ran away with three points against Burnley
and Everton respectively. Point to be noted here is that only City were able to
maintain a clean sheet among the Big 6 teams.
Manchester City are the only undefeated team in the Premier League this season and not only that, City are also the top scoring team in the League with 32 goals from 9 games. So far, they have crossed every hurdle in their path with relative ease and are now a clear favourite to win the League title. It seems that his first trophy less season had showed Pep Guardiola how demanding the Premier League can be and he’s not taking any chances with any team what so ever and is always coming up with a strong line up every week. The thing about City’s upcoming 2 fixtures is that they play against Wolves and Arsenal and unlike United, City have at least one easy opponent and given Arsenal’s form only an all-round world class performance by the gunners can stop Manchester City. You do it Pep.

Chelsea showed great mettle
against an in-form Watford team and walked out of the match in style
with three
points in their pockets but the harsh truth is that the reigning Premier League
Champions have been highly inconsistent this season and that is something to be
worried about. They have many world class players but a few notable absentees
as well. Mainly N’Golo Kante, without whose presence Chelsea are finding it
difficult to control the game in the midfield. The Blues will face Bournemouth
and Mourinho’s United in their next two Premier League fixtures which might be
a good thing. A light opponent before playing against a heavyweight. However,
United play against Tottenham before travelling to Stamford Bridge and it’s
based on the result of that game that United’s performance against Chelsea will
predicted. Will the Champions of England, once again prove that they have what
it takes? Only time will tell.
As things go for Arsenal, they
have had a miserable start to their Premier League campaign but the ship seems
to have been steadied for the moment but things as it stand does not look good
for the Gunners who are almost certain to lose two of their key players in the
January transfer window. Ozil has been sensational for them against Everton and
Sanchez has been their only true savior on many occasions. How will Arsenal
fare without these two? I really doubt they will fail if they can’t find ideal
replacements and for the second time in their history they might finish outside
top 4. Looking at the near future, Arsenal have to play against Swansea and
Manchester City in their next two Premier League games, which I think will
certainly prove to be difficult for them and only a top notch performance is
required from them for the next two months.

top 6 of the Premier League table as it stands
