Tottenham have a chance to make history

Tottenham will face Real Madrid in Champions League for the first time in seven years and for the fifth time in total. Their previous four meetings have all been in favour of the Spanish giants as Real won 3 out of 4 and the other one was a draw.
7 years is a long gap and changes are bound to happen on both sides. While Madrid have been at the top of their game for all these seven years, Tottenham took some time to settle and form their squad and are now a formidable team in the Premier League.
This game will be the real test for Tottenham who have a point to prove to the whole world, that they are no longer the underdogs. They are the real deal and other teams should think twice before taking them on.
Madrid do hold the advantage over Spurs with their top level experience in the Champions League but Spurs are currently in terrific form. They have been scoring goals just for the fun of it for the past couple of seasons and they also boast one of the best defence in the Premier League.
Both these teams are joint leaders in the Champions League group and a victory for Spurs against Real Madrid will not make them clear favourites to win the most elite competition in football but their confidence will rocket through the sky and that is no ordinary achievement.
Spurs do have some injury problems at hand. One of their star player, Dele Alli will be serving his suspension while Victor Wanyama, Danny Rose and Erik Lamela are all out injured. While Madrid only have to accept the loss of Gareth Bale, who is side-lined due to injury but still Madrid have a comparatively superior squad strength.

Madrid have not been at their scintillating best this season and are already seven points behind the League leaders in La Liga which Spurs can use it to their advantage but Pochettino should not underestimate Real Madrid. Given the small squad strength at Pochettino’s disposal, three out the four unavailable players are real difference makers for Tottenham and playing without the trickery of Alli, the solidity of Wanayma and the pace of Rose, is nothing less than a mountain of a challenge. Regardless of this, if Tottenham still manage to clinch a victory over Real Madrid, they definitely have a chance to make history.
