A preview of Manchester City Vs Napoli
Two teams who are at the top of
the table in their respective leagues will collide head to head at The Etihad
tonight when Napoli travel to England for their Champions League group stage
match against Manchester City.
Both teams have been scoring
goals left, right and centre since the start of this season while both teams
are yet to lose a single match. This had led many fans and pundits to believe
that we definitely have a cracker of a match for us tonight.
Let’s have a look at some of the
league stats for a better look at both the teams
Manchester City
7 wins and 1 draw in 8 games
29 goals scored and 4 conceded
Best players : Kevin De Bruyne
and Sergio Aguero
Napoli
8 wins out of 8 games
26 goals scored and 5 condeded
Best Players : Lorenzo Insigne
and Dries Mertens
While City have scored more and
conceded less goals, Napoli have refused to drop even a single point. What’s
interesting is that both teams have equal attacking fire power and solid
defence. In the end, it’ll come down to who wants it more. Which team has the
greater desire for victory. However, there is one area in which Manchester City
have the advantage over Napoli. Midfield.
Comparing the attack, we can say
that if City, have Sterling, Aguero and Jesus, Napoli have Insigne, Callejon
and Mertens while the defence is also more or less equal though Napoli do not
have a player like Walker in their squad. But when it comes to Midfield,
Manchester City clearly have the advantage. Yes Napoli do have Hamsik but City
have David Silva, Ikay Gundogan, Fernandinho, Bernardo Silva, Yaya Toure and
Kevin De Bruyne. Napoli does not even come close to this midfield.
Only if City could use this to
their advantage, I do believe that Napoli might not stand a chance. I expect
Pep Guardiola to play his midfielders a little deep and allow his attackers to
make use of long passes and cross and threaten Napoli’s defence and it’s seems
predictable that Napoli might start the game by playing defence.
We definitely have one heck of an
entertainer in store for us tonight and I predict a 2-1 victory to Manchester City.
