Is history repeating itself at Chelsea

This seems to be becoming a trend at Stamford Bridge. Managers who tend to win the Premier League with Chelsea often see their team failing to replicate the same stunning from the very next season.
Very recently in Mourinho’s second spell as Chelsea manager, the Special one, won the Premier League title in excellent style but his title defence was pretty disturbing and abysmal to watch for every blues fan. That appalling title defence not only saw the sacking of Mourinho but also Chelsea finished trophy-less that season and ended up 10th in the table.
Conte won the Premier League in his debut season at the Premier League but in his second season in charge of Chelsea, the tactically defensive Italian manager has already tasted 3 defeats in just eight games so far while in his title winning campaign Chelsea lost a total of just 5 games in the entire Premier League campaign.
So, what on earth is going on at Chelsea? A curse? A jinx? Complacency? Or more focus on Champions League?
We can definitely rule out the first two. Only a fool would consider this poor run of form to be superstition. It definitely has to be the other two.
Complacency is a definite possibility because Chelsea’s disastrous 2015-16 campaign was largely the fault of underperforming players. Every big name player was not even close to their best when Chelsea finished 10th that season. I definitely agree the winning the Premier League is a huge burden and after winning the title, almost all players will think that they can take it easy and give some rest to the thought of winning the title again and maybe that’s exactly what’s happening at Stamford Bridge at the moment.
The problem with taking it light is that the team can end with without winning a single trophy that season which not only hurts a fan but also the managements income. This will also result in many players losing their starting line-up or even be sold. This will always be a disaster in every way.

Now, does everyone remember the 2011-12 season? The year when Chelsea finished 6th in the Premier League but won the Champions League. Based on many-a-comments received from some Chelsea players and Conte himself, Chelsea is focusing on winning the Champions League this season but if that is case, the efforts which Chelsea have to put on winning the Champions League have to be far greater than how they are currently performing. They have to give more than a hundred percent to win the Champions League as they’ll be up against the top teams in the world but who Chelsea will perform is a matter of time. We only have to wait and see but Chelsea still have time and a lot of games to make amends and climb up the table.
However, I do hope that it’s not complacency and indeed Chelsea are working for Champions league’s success.
