What can we expect from Chelsea against Roma
Two back to back defeats have
once again brought Chelsea under the spot light for a variety of negative
reasons. Under performing players, tactical failure, no lust of victory and
some more synonymous phrases have been linked with Chelsea for the past two weeks.
Even though, the players performed well during their international duty, they
had failed to bring out the champions from within and produce that commanding
display which saw Chelsea become Champions of England.
Now, all attention is towards the
Champions League games against Roma. This is just one of the many other
exciting matches that we have in store from across the globe.
Chelsea produced a stunning
display of football in the Wanda Metropolitana stadium against Atletico Madrid,
where there emerged victorious with a 1-2 victory. Now, Roma travel to England
where they will face Chelsea at The Stamford Bridge.
This is yet another chance for
Chelsea to prove that they are pretty serious about the Champions League and
also, this is an opportunity for them to get back their lost form but this will
not be just another walk in the park for the blues who have already lost two
consecutive matches in the Premier League, one against the top of the table
team, Manchester City and other against the bottom of the table team, Crystal
palace. In the former match, Chelsea played well but were out-classed by Pep
Guardiola and in the latter, Chelsea were really poor. This coupled with the
fact that Chelsea will be without Kante, Drinkwater and Morata is a disaster.
Chelsea really have defensive
problems. Cahill is not the player he was when he played along with
Terry. He
has been making a lot of mistakes as of late while Luiz seems to be struggling
a bit. Not only in the defense but in attack as well, Pedro, Willian and Michy
Batshuayi have not produce a single good performance worth mentioning. Hazard
has just returned from injury and is yet to hit his peak. I’m not sure how
they’re going to handle Dezko who really is in top form.
It seems to be that it’s quite
obvious that everyone can expect Chelsea to struggle a little in the game
against Roma though they will be playing the game at the back of a league
defeat themselves against Napoli but still Roma have quite a lot of top
performers in their team.
Only if Chelsea could by some
miracle or extra hard work pull a victory over the Italian giants, everyone can
breathe a little easy but the game will be one tough battle at the Bridge.
I expect Chelsea to start the game defensively as they always have and will try to attack in the counter but the defending part will be done more in my opinion. I predict a 1-1 draw.
What do you guys think?
